9/27/21 - Presentation Day!

In today's session, we finished the pitch deck for our immersive installation and presented the first iteration of our concept to the class.

  1. Today we got a lot of feedback on the concept for our installation experience. We need to find more specific images to better envision what the rooms look like. Some of the images on our slides are just there to take up space, so we can probably get rid of them. Other than that, we mostly need to get into a bit more detail on specific aspects. This includes the audio to visual representations in Room #1. The feeling of connectedness in Room #4 could probably be used in another room where it would make more sense. We will also dive more into the moments that trigger silence. We thought this would be a very powerful feature, so we should elaborate more on how it works.

  2. On Monday's class, we received feedback on several things such as audio and using images that would better represent some rooms. One feedback point about the audio was that we have to find music that could be considered "spa music", and that there is a fine line between spa music and music that could be considered useful. Another point of feedback was that the audio and the visuals of the room can go together on slides and we needed more visuals of physical objects that would go in our rooms. Lastly, we have to explain more about aspects such as the heartbeat portion, Arduino usage, and how will our rooms have the silence triggers.

  3. We finalized the rooms and worked on the deck. We discussed the presentation on who would present and what we're presenting.

  4. On Monday we put together a slide deck of our concept and presented it to the other groups. Connecting our developed ideas back to the photos that originally inspired them really brought them full circle for us and helped them make a strong first impression for everyone else. The feedback we got pointed out a few spots where the vision was incomplete, hard to understand, and even underrated. We didn't realize how big of a deal the heart rate monitors were - to us they were a cool afterthought, but there's a lot more room to promote it and highlight our attraction as an environment that listens and responds to you.
