10/27/2021 - Prototyping Continues

Today we continued modeling the rooms for the installation and started adding assets to Unity.

Comments

  1. I've added most of the assets for the 3D model of room 4 to Unity. I managed to get a pixel like material for the projector screens. I also changed the colors of the light rods and placed them at the top and bottom of the screens. I don't know how necessary these light rods are, but I think they work for what we've been planning. I got rid of the two speakers on the floor and went with only the two sound bars instead. These are on the walls that don't have the light rods and I think they make more sense than the floor speakers. I don't know what else to do for the speaker placement. I added more projectors across the floor as well. These more accurately reflect how they would project to all the screens, since the screens take up all the wall space.

  2. On Wednesday's class, I added some assets to my Room 2 scene that looked like optical illusions. These assets look like basic screens. It was hard to find free assets on Unity. Because of this, I am also working on a shader script that can simulate an optical illusion. I am trying to add more screens to my room and I'll consider making a grid of screens (looks similar to how the TV section of an electronic store would look).

  3. On Wednesday, I added a fog to my scene. It resembles more of a dust storm, but I think it is close enough. I tried adding a dim light projection on an object to no avail. I probably have to create a script in Unity initiate the dim lighting in my scene. In addition, I am also working on a audio script and add a sound clip(s) to the speakers.

  4. On Wednesday, I added lighting and materials to the scene to make the room seem dark. I also looked into shaders that could be used as a way to make specific things glow and make some things have a reflective tile upon them.

  5. Writing this cause I have to, but was sick and slept through class time. So no contribution.

    1. Wrong date, and using different account so it's not letting me delete it, but that day I struggled with leaves on blender. Tried looking at trees on SketchFab vis Ekemini's suggestion, but it didn't fit the vision I had in mind. Tried searching multiple videos on how to use Blender, still contemplating that it may be a bad idea to try something that I am not 100% confident in, but too late now since we're moving forward with Unity. Might take a look on SketchFab again. Also still don't know how to use Unity that well.
