We worked on our 3D models for the rooms in SketchUp a little more. I made some progress but I am still trying to figure out what other elements can go in the room to further depict what the participant would actually experience. I think the model needs more details, but it's more of a matter of finding the right details. We are almost done setting up the Unity project so we can soon start adding all of the assets for the rooms to create the complete floor plan.
SketchUp is giving us a hard time, so we're in the process of switching over to Unity. We all have way more hands-on experience with creating 3D spaces in there, and plus we'll be able to record a 1st-person flythrough at the end using the built-in tools. I initialized a Github repo to hold our Unity project, then built the walls + floors for each room layout in ProBuilder. We're using a multi-scene workflow so that we can preview the entire floor plan at once, but work on our assigned rooms separately (preventing version control conflicts). Next class we can start placing 3D models inside our rooms and experimenting with the lighting.
We continued working on 3d models in SketchUp (or in my case, Blender). I made good progress, but I still have some details to add to the model. The Unity project was finished setting up, so I guess we can import our assets to the scene and continue from there.
On Wednesday's class, we continued modeling our respective rooms. I made a decent amount of progress, but SketchUp is still giving me some issues due to a lack of assets in its store. It is somewhat hard to show what guests would experience, so I'm trying my best to insert any illusion themed assets into my sketch. We are slowly transitioning into using Unity for our models and I think that will be a better option for us going forward.
We continued working on sketches of the rooms. I found some more inspirations to make it pretty, but also functional as an installation. Tried to search Unity Asset for a tree, might consider modeling it in Blender instead. Next session I want to learn more on 3d modeling to bring the sketch into Unity.
In class we worked on making the rooms in Sketchup. The process is tough due to the commands and functions SketchUp has. I'm taking it slowly as I can to understand it but the process is confusion.
