10/04/21 - Second Round Presentations

In today's session, we presented our refined pitches for our immersive installation concept.

Comments

  1. Today we pitched our concept to the class once again for more feedback. We might need to find some more specific imagery for the first two rooms that match the interactivity the room would have. For the second room, we need to consider if we want to represent a state of flow or put people in a state of flow. I think it could be a bit of both because one might unintentionally lead to another. We also got feedback on potentially having a souvenir for participants to keep once they complete the experience. At first, we thought it would be too expensive for people to take the smart watches home. However, we have another idea for the smart watches, which will be designated by color. These could have another creative element from the installation, like a LED or heart pulsing.

  2. On Wednesday's class we presented our Rest installation again after making several changes. Two positives of our presentation were that we made our presentation was concise, and that we added more relevant visuals. Professor Garrison let us know that rooms 1 and 2 were still a bit confusing in terms of how visitors would interact with those rooms, and that we should find more visuals for those rooms. Another piece of advice we received was to find out other potential ideas for wearables due to the expenses of having to buy multiple smart watches.

  3. We pitched our revised presentation. I could have done better with the explanation. There are definitely parts where I tried to patch any upcoming silence, cause I have a weird tick where I sometimes just forget words in the middle of a sentence. In a real presentation, that's not good. Maybe having cards with notes might help in the future, although that'd make me look less presentable, but whatever. Definitely loved the feedback from the professors. Cleared up some misunderstandings about the project, and how to better it and make it more professional. We were definitely thinking out of the box, but sometimes we held back due to "reality check". Going forward, just being more creative and throwing everything we have for a "blue sky" project might allow us to have more ideas rather than limitations due to what we know.

  4. Our group made changes to our concept and pitched it once again. We receive more positive feedback than last time such as more concise, our visuals are more representative to our concept.

  5. We definitely got closer to a concrete vision for Rooms 1 and 2 with the revisions made last Wednesday, but we still have some work to do based on the feedback we got on our presentation. I was worried we'd be considered "behind" for not having it figured out by now, but we're learning that needing several iterations to get to a final, polished concept is completely normal. I think as we move forward we'll run head-on into the gaps in our ideas & fill them on a case-by-case basis.
